Registry placement date: June 2, 2004

Score: 40

County: Maricopa

Location: Phoenix, bounded by Earll Drive to the north, Roosevelt Street to the south, 56th Street to the east and 24th Street to the west.

If you own a private well, live in or near the site boundaries, and have not had your well tested, please contact ADEQ.

Contaminant of concern: Trichloroethene (TCE) and tetracholoroethene (PCE)

Action taken: ADEQ is working cooperatively with a party potentially responsible for the contamination to remediate the site. A pump and treat groundwater system was constructed and started operation in November 2013 as part of an early response action (ERA).

Status: NXP (formerly Freescale Semiconductor), the working party, continues to operate and maintain the groundwater pump-and-treat system as the ERA to address the TCE and PCE in the groundwater. Groundwater is extracted and treated then discharged into the Grand Canal system for non-potable beneficial reuse as irrigation water under an agreement with Salt River Project. The following site documents were finalized in November 2018 and are available to view on the site repository page >

  • Final Remedial Investigation Report
  • Final Remedial Objectives Report
  • Feasibility Study Work Plan

NXP has completed a residential indoor air investigation and a soil gas investigation near the former source area to fulfill data gaps as part of the Feasibility Study. Indoor air results from homes that elected to participate in the investigation, as well as soil gas results, will be presented in the Feasibility Study due to ADEQ by June 2020.

Community Advisory Board (CAB): Established and meets as needed. For more information on joining the CAB or to be included on the site mailing list, please contact the community involvement coordinator.
