56th Street and Earll Drive | Site Overview
Registry placement date: June 2, 2004
Location: Phoenix, bounded by Earll Drive to the north, Roosevelt Street to the south, 56th Street to the east and 24th Street to the west.
If you own a private well, live in or near the site boundaries, and have not had your well tested, please contact ADEQ.
Contaminants of concern: Trichloroethene (TCE) and tetracholoroethene (PCE)
Action taken: ADEQ is working cooperatively with NXP (formerly Freescale Semiconductor), the party potentially responsible for the contamination, to remediate the site. A pump and treat groundwater system was constructed and started operation in November 2013 as part of an early response action (ERA). The Final Remedial Investigation Report, Final Remedial Objectives Report, and Feasibility Study Work Plan were finalized in November 2018. The Feasibility Study was finalized in March 2022.
Status: NXP operates and maintains the groundwater pump-and-treat system as the ERA to address the TCE and PCE in the groundwater. Groundwater is extracted and treated then discharged into the Grand Canal system under an agreement with the Salt River Project. NXP conducts groundwater monitoring and sampling semi-annually in April and October. ADEQ is currently preparing a Proposed Remedial Action Plan.
Community Advisory Board (CAB): Established and meets on a regular basis. A list of CAB members and their contact information is available in the Community Involvement Plan (CIP) | View CIP>
