PUBLIC NOTICE | Proposed Issuance of an Amended APP for AEPCO Solid Waste Landfill in Cochise County, Ariz.
Pursuant to Arizona Administrative Code (AAC), Title 18, Chapter 9, Article 1, the Director of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) intends to issue an amended Aquifer Protection Permit (APP) to Arizona Electric Power Cooperative, Inc. for the Apache Generating Station (AEPCO) Solid Waste Landfill.
The AEPCO Solid Waste Landfill has been in operation since 2002. This amendment proposes three significant modifications to the existing solid waste facility plan approval: the installation of landfill gas monitoring wells, replacement of the existing, dry point of compliance and upgradient groundwater wells, and the implementation of a landfill gas and revised groundwater sampling and monitoring program. No change in the vertical height or horizontal boundaries (landfill footprint) is requested. A baseline and routine groundwater monitoring plan has been proposed for the new point of compliance groundwater well.
