PUBLIC NOTICE | 7th Street and Arizona Avenue WQARF Site PRAP Addendum

ADEQ has completed an Addendum to the Proposed Remedial Action Plan (PRAP-A) for the 7th Street and Arizona Avenue Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund (WQARF) site in Tucson, Arizona [Arizona Administrative Code R18-16-408(C)]. The PRAP documents the results of the remedial investigation/feasibility study (RI/FS) and identifies the proposed remedy and its estimated costs.

Information

The 7th Street and Arizona Avenue WQARF site consists of a plume located in Tucson. The plume is bounded approximately by Speedway Boulevard to the north, the Union Pacific Railroad to the south, 4th Avenue to the east, and 10th Avenue to the west. Contaminants of concern at the site are tetrachloroethene (PCE), trichloroethene (TCE) and cis-1,2-dichlororethene (cis-1,2-DCE).

The proposed remedy for the site varies with the source site, as follows: soil vapor extraction with capture by granular activated carbon will be employed at the Stone Avenue Site. At the Oliver’s Cleaners source site, air sparging and soil vapor extraction will be used with capture by granular activated carbon. The estimated cost to implement this remedy, including installation, operations and monitoring, is approximately $9.32 million over a period of 30 years.
