PUBLIC NOTICE | Availability of Proposed Remedial Action Plan for the West Central Phoenix — North Canal Plume WQARF Site

ADEQ has completed the Proposed Remedial Action Plan (PRAP) for the West Central Phoenix — North Canal Plume Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund (WQARF) site in Phoenix, Arizona. The PRAP documents the Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study (RI/FS) results, identifies the proposed remedy and estimates its cost.1

Site Information

The site contains three plumes of contaminated groundwater. The approximate plume boundaries are Indian School Road to the north, Flower Street to the south, Grand Avenue to the east, and 41st Avenue to the west. Site contaminants of concern are tetrachloroethene (PCE), trichloroethene (TCE), 1,1-dichloroethene (DCE), and chromium.

The site’s proposed remedy includes soil vapor extraction and monitored natural attenuation. Contingencies include wellhead treatment, in-situ chemical oxidation, groundwater pump-and-treat, and installing additional groundwater monitoring wells. The estimated cost to implement the remedy with contingencies is approximately $32 million for a period of 30 years.
