COMMENT PERIOD BEGINS | Work Plan & Risk Assessment Available for Eagle Picher Mill Parcel 30 Voluntary Remediation Site in Pima County
On July 6, 2022, the public comment period begins for the availability of a work plan and risk assessment for the Eagle Picher Mill Parcel 30 Voluntary Remediation Program (VRP) Site located in Pima County, Arizona. The public comment period ends Aug. 19, 2022.

Site Location: W. Twin Buttes Road and S. La Villita Road, Sahuarita, Arizona
The work plan and risk assessment propose to excavate contaminated soil and consolidate it within the existing tailings pile. An engineered cap will be built to cover the tailings pile. A Declaration of Environmental Use Restriction will be used to restrict the property to non-residential use.
The Eagle Picher Mill VRP site consists of a former mill and tailings deposition area which processed lead-zinc ores between 1943 and 1959 located in Sahuarita, Arizona. Contaminants of concern at the site are metals.
