Notice: Pursuant to the Clean Water Act and in accordance with Arizona Administrative Code (AAC) R18-9-A907, the Director of ADEQ proposes to issue an Arizona Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES) Permit major modification to discharge pollutants to Waters of the United States to the following applicant, subject to certain effluent limitations and special conditions:

Agua Nueva Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP)
The applicant is authorized to discharge groundwater and treated domestic wastewater from the Agua Nueva WWTP serving Tucson in Pima County, Arizona to Julian wash, tributary to Santa Cruz Wash in the Santa Cruz Basin. The facility covers 141 acres northeast of Country Club Road and Ajo Way in Tucson, Arizona. On July 5, 2018, ADEQ received a request from the permittee to modify the AZPDES permit, which became effective on August 21, 2017. The modification request is to change the Ammonia Impact Ration (AIR) limit for Daily maximum in Table 1 be set at a value of two (2). The AZPDES permit authorizes to discharge groundwater and treated domestic wastewater from the Agua Nueva WWTP up to 2.0 million gallons per day (mgd) to Julian Wash in the Santa Cruz River Basin in Township 14 S, Range 14 E, Section 29, in Pima County, Arizona.
