Forecast Discussion:
Yesterday's winds resulted in elevated PM10 (dust) levels, mainly in the morning. PM10 was able to reach the Moderate AQI category. Ozone levels in/around Yuma, on the other hand, dropped because of the winds.
Looking ahead, winds as strong as what we saw yesterday are not anticipated during this forecast period. But, light afternoon breezes won't be completely absent, either. Low pressure will still hang around the region, keeping daytime conditions from becoming stagnant. This will be good for dispersing any PM10 or PM2.5 (smoke) produced locally in the mornings.
As for ozone, ozone levels are forecast to be on the lower side, until ozone is able to build-up around the region, and winds become favorable for moving ozone into Yuma. At the present, Sunday looks to have the best shot at this. Then by Monday, southerly winds are forecast to reduce ozone.
