ADEQ is conducting a rulemaking to update water quality standards for Waters of the United States (WOTUS) under the federal Clean Water Act (CWA). The rulemaking will modify A.C.C. Title 18, Chapter 11, Article 1 to accomplish the following goals:
- Update the criteria applied to surface water quality standards used by ADEQ to protect public health to the levels required by EPA;
- Modify the designated uses of some WOTUS protected by the CWA to reflect how those WOTUS are currently used; and
- Make technical edits to Appendix B to ensure waterbody descriptions are accurate.
