PUBLIC NOTICE | Proposed Leaking UST Cleanup at Terrible Herbst in Lake Havasu City
A Corrective Action Plan (CAP) dated December 10, 2021, has been submitted to ADEQ. The CAP contains a proposal to clean up petroleum contamination from an underground storage tank system at the following facility:
Leaking UST Case File No.: 4615.01
Facility ID No.: 0-004900
Mohave County
Facility Address
Terrible Herbst #148
1040 Acoma Blvd. S
Lake Havasu City, AZ 86406
Proposed Activities
The proposed activities include the following cleanup technologies that will be used to obtain the cleanup levels that are protective of public health, welfare and the environment:
Dual Phase Extraction with Soil Vapor Extraction (DPE with SVE)
Remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater will be conducted using DPE with SVE technology. An DPE with SVE system is designed to extract soil vapor and contaminated groundwater from the impacted area. The vapor will be treated prior to atmospheric emission such that emission does not exceed concentration limits specified in any approved air quality permit issued by the city, county, or state agency. The recovered groundwater will be pumped to an aboveground treatment system designed to remove contaminants of concern in the water. The treated groundwater will be discharged to the municipal sanitary sewer under a Wastewater Discharge Permit obtained from the Lake Havasu City, Wastewater Division or discharged to the municipal storm sewer under a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit.
