PUBLIC NOTICE | Proposal to Renew the Air Quality General Permit for Hospitals

ADEQ proposes to renew the Air Quality General Permit for Hospitals General Permits are a type of permit that applies to a class of sources, therefore, these revisions will affect multiple sources throughout the state. These permits contain requirements from the Federal Clean Air Act, Arizona Revised Statute 49-426, and the Arizona Administrative Code, Title 18, Chapter 2.

The Air Quality Control General Permit for Hospitals is a renewal of the current permit that will expire upon the issuance of this renewal permit. The Hospital General Permit covers stationary facilities outside of Maricopa, Pima and Pinal counties. Facilities permitted under the proposed Hospital General Permit emit the following air contaminants: particulate matter, particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter less than 10 microns, particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter less than 2.5 microns, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, and volatile organic compounds.
