ADEQ has placed the Stone Avenue and Grant Road site on the WQARF registry as of Jan. 20, 2017,1 and will be performing a remedial investigation and feasibility study.2

Information

The Stone Avenue and Grant Road site in Tucson is bounded by East Alturas Street to the north, East Sahuaro Street to the south, North Estrella Avenue to the east and North Castro Avenue to the west. The boundaries are intended to provide basic information regarding the estimated geographic extent of the currently known contamination. The actual extent of the contamination may differ, therefore, the geographic boundaries may change as new information becomes available.

The site score is 45 out of 120 and is based upon a review of available information regarding the presence of hazardous substances at the site. The scoring of a site, its relative score, or its placement on the registry does not necessarily represent a determination that the release of a hazardous substance from the site poses a threat to human health or welfare or the environment. The contaminant of concern is tetrachloroethene.

ADEQ has developed a fact sheet, a community involvement plan outline and a scope of work for the remedial investigation and feasibility study at the site.3 These documents are available for public inspection. Any person, by agreement with the department, may develop and implement a work plan for the remedial investigation and the feasibility study. Any person who wishes to enter into an agreement can contact the project manager | Email >

A public meeting may be held if significant interested exists.
