ADEQ proposes to issue an Arizona Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES) renewal permit to discharge pollutants to Protected Surface Waters to the following applicant, subject to certain effluent limitations and special conditions:

EPCOR Water Arizona Inc. applied for a renewal AZPDES permit for the proposed discharge of up to 3.0 million gallons per day (mgd) of treated domestic wastewater, reject water from WTP and also water resulting from the membrane cleaning process from the Anthem WWTP to the unnamed wash, tributary to Deadman’s Wash, tributary to New River in Maricopa County, Arizona. The Anthem WWTP is a publicly owned treatment works that receives domestic wastewater from residential, and commercial sources in Anthem. Sludge is contained in aerated sludge holding tanks, dried on a belt filter press, and then hauled to a landfill. Liquid sludge may also be hauled offsite by a licensed hauler for off-site disposal at an approved site.
