Site Summary:
- Work plan approved May 2020 proposed to:
- sample outdoor Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) material and perform TCLP analysis, remove outdoor CRT material from the site and based on based on results of TCLP analysis, and transport as Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) hazardous waste to U.S. Ecology Nevada Landfill or to a permitted solid waste landfill
- conduct a soil scrape of the top three inches of soil beneath outdoor CRT glass piles, collect samples and conduct TCLP analysis, and based on results of TCLP analysis, transport as RCRA hazardous waste to U.S. Ecology Nevada Landfill or to a permitted solid waste landfill
- collect soil samples beneath former outdoor CRT glass piles, at on-site drywell(s), and any cracked concrete.
- Outdoor work began December 2020; completed August 2021.
- Outdoor completion report under review.
- Future phases of work will include removal of CRT material from inside the building, building decontamination, and as necessary, additional soil and/or drywell characterization and/or remediation. The VRP expects fully developed work plans for the next phases of work to be submitted for VRP review and approval prior to initiation of those activities. A work plan is currently in development.
