PUBLIC NOTICE | Proposed AZPDES Permit Coverage to Pima County DEQ

Notice: Pursuant to the Clean Water Act and in accordance with Arizona Administrative Code (AAC) R18-9-A907, the ADEQ Director proposes to issue an Arizona Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES) Permit to discharge pollutants to waters of the U.S. to the following applicant, subject to certain effluent limitations and special conditions:

Pima County Department of Environmental Quality Solid Waste Division applied for a renewal AZPDES permit for the proposed discharge of up to 0.36 million gallons per day (mgd) of treated groundwater from the El Camino del Cerro Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund (WQARF) Site Groundwater Treatment System to the Santa Cruz River in the Santa CruzRio Magdalena-Rio Sonoyta River Basin in Township 13 S, Range 13 E, Section 17, in Pima County, Ariz. The Groundwater Treatment System pumps and treats groundwater from well CDC-EX2 that contains certain volatile organic compounds (VOCs) with air-stripping technology using a vapor phase granular activated carbon media for treatment prior to discharge. No sludge is generated in the operation.
