PUBLIC NOTICE | Proposed Leaking UST Case Closure for Case File # 5637.01

ADEQ is considering closure of the following leaking underground storage tank (LUST) case:

LUST Case File No.: 5637.01

Facility ID No.: 0-006030
Maricopa County

Facility address:
Interstate Mechanical Corporation
1841 E. Washington Street
Phoenix, AZ 85034

The location operates as a metal fabrication facility. It used one 12,000-gallon underground storage tank (UST) that was installed in approximately 1980 and closed-in-place in August 2015.

The UST Owner/Operator, Interstate Mechanical Corporation [IMCOR], began site characterization activities immediately after discovering the LUST release in 2015. Site activities included the installation of a single soil boring and six monitoring wells. Free product has been seen intermittently in Monitoring Well 1, with free product at a depth of 0.04 feet seen in July 2016.

A site-specific risk assessment and detailed file/information search were also completed. Benzene analytical groundwater results in Monitoring Well 1 remains above the Aquifer Water Quality Standards (AWQS).
