NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY AND 30 DAY COMMENT PERIOD: State Route 95 and Kiowa Boulevard Site Listing

Notice Read the Following: Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) is proposing to list the State Route 95 and Kiowa Boulevard site in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, on the ADEQ Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund (WQARF) site registry pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute §49-287.01.

The State Route 95 and Kiowa Boulevard site consists of contaminated soil and a groundwater contaminant plume located in Lake Havasu City. The plume is bounded approximately by Kiowa Boulevard to the north, Holly Avenue to the south, San Juan Drive to the east and Cactus Wren Drive to the west. The boundaries described are intended to provide basic information regarding the estimated geographic extent of contamination given current available data. Based on results of further investigations and monitoring, the actual extent of contamination may differ. As such, the geographic boundaries may change as new information becomes available. The contaminants known to be present above regulatory standards are tetrachloroethene (PCE), trichloroethene (TCE), 1,1-dichloroethene (1,1-DCE), 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA), nitrate and hexavalent chromium.

The site score is 50 out of 120.The site score is based on review of available information regarding the occurrence of hazardous substances at the site. The scoring of a site and its placement on the registry, along with the magnitude of its score relative to other sites, does not necessarily represent a determination that the release of a hazardous substance from the site poses a threat to human health, welfare, or the environment.
