PUBLIC NOTICE | Upper Santa Cruz River Clean Water Plan for Five Impaired Stream Reaches near Nogales, Ariz.

ADEQ, in accordance with Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act, has developed a Clean Water Plan (CWP) that includes Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) analysis for 5 reaches in the Upper Santa Cruz River subwatershed near Nogales, Arizona. There are three reaches of the Santa Cruz below Nogales WWTP outfall to Sopori Wash, one reach Nogales Wash from the US/Mexico border to Potrero Creek and one reach of Potrero Creek from Interstate 19 to the Santa Cruz River. The CWP is supplemented with strategies including Best Management Practices and funding sources to mitigate the impaired streams. ADEQ has determined through sample collection and data analysis that the five separate stream reaches are impaired for Escherichia coli (E. coli).
