PUBLIC NOTICE | Notice of Hazardous Substance Listing & Start of Remedial Investigation & Feasibilty Study for 7th St & Missouri Avenue WQARF Site

ADEQ placed the 7th Street and Missouri Avenue site on the WQARF registry on June 24, 2016, pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute (ARS) §289.01. ADEQ will be performing a remedial investigation and feasibility study and has provided notice as per ARS §289.02.

The 7th Street and Missouri Avenue site in Phoenix is bounded to the north by East Montebello Avenue, to the south by East Georgia Avenue, to the west by North 6th Street and to the east by North 10th Street. The contaminants of concern are tetrachloroethene and trichloroethene. The boundaries described are intended to provide the public with basic information regarding the estimated geographic extent of the currently known contamination. As new information becomes available, the actual extent of the contamination may change, therefore, the geographic boundaries may change as well. 

The site score is 42 out of 120. The site score is based upon a review of available information regarding the presence of contamination at the site. The contaminants of concern are located in the groundwater below the ground surface. The scoring of a site, its relative score, or its placement on the registry does not necessarily represent a determination that the release of a hazardous substance from the site poses a threat to human health, welfare or the environment.

Pursuant to ARS §49-287.03, ADEQ has developed a fact sheet, a community involvement plan outline and a scope of work for the remedial investigation and feasibility study. These documents are available for public review. Any person, by agreement with the department, may develop and implement a work plan for the remedial investigation and the feasibility study.  A public meeting may be held if significant interested exists.
