[Pesticidegp] PGP Update

Pesticide General Permit pesticidegp@lists.azdeq.gov
Tue Mar 8 09:26:27 MST 2011

Quick note to provide an update on the status of the draft Pesticide
General Permit...Arizona's draft PGP is currently in the public notice
process. The notice was published in the Arizona Administrative
Register on February 25, 2011 (
http://www.azsos.gov/public_services/register/2011/8/contents.shtm ) and
the comment period closes on March 29, 2011.

On March 3, 2011 the U.S. EPA requested an extension to allow more time
for pesticide operators to obtain permits for pesticide discharges into
U.S. waters. EPA requested the deadline be extended from April 9, 2011
to October 31, 2011 (see attached statement).

ADEQ remains on schedule to issue the AZPDES PGP in compliance with the
court mandated date of April 9, 2011. However, if the court agrees to
approve U.S. EPA's request to extend the deadline to October 31, 2011,
ADEQ will consider options to extend the Arizona implementation date
accordingly.

Thank you again for your interest and participation in the AZPDES
program.

Best regards,

Christopher M. Henninger, Supervisor
