PHOENIX (Aug. 19, 2009) - Arizona Department of Environmental Quality
officials announced today that the largest ever electronics waste
recycling event in northeast Arizona will be held Saturday morning, Aug.

29 at Show Low's Walmart Supercenter.

ADEQ and its partners -- Green-Tech Assets of Mesa, Walmart and the City
of Show Low - anticipate collecting tens of tons of unwanted computers,
monitors, batteries, chargers, cell phones, VCRs, CD and DVD players,
printers, fax machines, cables and cords during the event. The
recyclable material will be collected in the Walmart parking lot at the
old gas station pad next to Wendy's restaurant.

Neither televisions nor appliances will be accepted during the event.

Green-Tech Assets also will be scheduling pickups of recycled electronic
items at school and businesses in southern Navajo and Apache counties.

For more information and to arrange a pick up, call (480)964-3031 or
email tproctor@greentechassets.com .

"Electronics waste is one of the most pressing environmental problems
throughout Arizona and the rest of the country," said ADEQ Director
Benjamin H. Grumbles. "This is the first of several such events that we
will be sponsoring throughout rural Arizona during the next year. We
should always remember in our daily lives the three Rs - reduce, reuse
and recycle."

Green Tech Assets has participated in earlier electronics recycling
events which collected 10 tons in the City of Tempe, 7.5 tons at Grand
Canyon Village, seven tons in the City of Mesa and six tons in the City
of Williams.

"We've had other successful events in rural Arizona. But we expect the
Show Low event to account for the most tonnage of recyclable electronics
material that we have collected to date," said Karin Harris, business
development manager of Green Tech Assets.

Show Low City Manager Ed Muder said, "We're pleased to partner with
ADEQ, Green-Tech Assets and Walmart to bring this recycling opportunity
to the White Mountains. We know a lot of people in the area have
outdated electronic equipment they don't know what to do with. This
event will help fill that need and fits in well with our plans to bring
more recycling opportunities to our citizens."
