ADEQ Director Owens Announces $10,000 Community Recycling Grant for Town
of Quartzsite in La Paz County

PHOENIX (June 6, 2007) - Arizona Department of Environmental Quality
(ADEQ) Director Steve Owens announced today that ADEQ has awarded
$10,000 to fund recycling in the Town of Quartzsite in La Paz County. 

"Recycling is one of our most effective tools to protect our
environment," Owens said. "We are glad to support Quartzsite's efforts
to increase recycling in Arizona."

The grant will fund the purchase of a wood chipper to reduce the amount
of green waste in the La Paz County Landfill by an estimated 26 percent.
Mulch from the chipper will be available free to local farmers and
gardeners. This project also will create a part-time job with
Quartzsite.

The grant is part of ADEQ's Waste Reduction Assistance (WRA) grants
program, which funds projects devoted to waste reduction, recycling and
composting.
