Flowing Wells Irrigation District Dedication Ceremony

Tucson, April 6, 2007


WHO: Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) and the Flowing
Wells Irrigation District, Tucson.


WHAT: Dedication Ceremony and Tour of a newly constructed groundwater
treatment facility with presentations by Steve Owens, Director, ADEQ ;
David Crockett, Superintendent, Flowing Wells Irrigation District; Eric
P. Anderson, Board Member, Flowing Wells Irrigation District; Gary
Abrams, Co-Chair, Miracle Mile Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund
(WQARF) Community Advisory Board. 


WHEN: Friday, April 6, 2007, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. 


WHERE: Flowing Wells Irrigation District Groundwater Treatment Facility,
1602 West Roger Road, Tucson, Arizona 


WHY: To provide an opportunity for customers and the community to tour
the new 900 gallon-per-minute groundwater treatment facility, located at
the existing Roger Road pumping and storage facility site, was installed
by Flowing Wells Irrigation District in response to Environmental
Protection Agency's (EPA's) stronger standard for arsenic.


The project is part of ADEQ's cleanup at the Miracle Mile Water Quality
Assurance Revolving Fund (WQARF) Site. The state Superfund program,
known as WQARF, identifies and cleans up areas with contaminated soil
and groundwater across the state.
