Synopsis and Discussion
A trough of low pressure will move through Arizona Sunday through Tuesday, dropping local maximum temperatures into the low 70s. No rain is expected in the Phoenix forecast area with this system. Winds will increase late Sunday into early Monday, decreasing Monday afternoon. We are not expecting much in the way of blowing dust, so PM10 and PM2.5 levels should remain in the Good range of the Air Quality Index (AQI). Ozone levels will remain the Good range as well. However, over the next month or so, the sun angle will be increasing as will the amount of daily sunlight. Thus, a system similar to this a month from now could potentially import some elevated ozone concentrations from southern California. For now, however, the only thing to worry about is whether your kite is ready for flight.
Check back on Sunday for the latest. Until then, have a great weekend! -J.Paul
