Synopsis and Discussion
*AN OZONE HEALTH WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR WEDNESDAY JUNE 23*
Several factors have led to the issuance of an Ozone Health Watch for Wednesday.  A ridge aloft will be approaching the area from the east tomorrow resulting in a modest warming trend with local afternoon highs near 110 deg F.  This feature may also impart a slight easterly wind flow as far west as the Valley; this would counter the usual westerly wind regime and cause ozone accumulation to increase.  There also appears to be a high "ozone pool" of sorts over western AZ where Yuma narrowly missed an exceedance of the federal standard on Monday and where hourly ozone concentrations were still elevated this a.m.  In addition, as of 10:00 a.m. today hourly ozone readings at all Phoenix metro monitors were running 10-20 parts per billion higher than 24 hours ago.  Since it appears that the upward trend in ozone levels will continue thru Wednesday, an O.H.W. was issued as a precaution for those with respiratory problems.  All other pollutant levels are forecast to remain in the good range of the Air Quality Index.  -Reith
