Synopsis and Discussion
A fantastic week is in store for the Phoenix forecast area as high pressure returns Wednesday through Sunday. Afternoon desert temperatures will climb back into the mid to upper 80s under mostly sunny skies and relatively light winds. With the exiting trough of low pressure that brought wind to the Valley Monday, there is just enough surface and upper level mixing to keep ozone concentrations down slightly on Tuesday. Lighter winds and ample sunshine are two key ingredients that should push local ozone concentrations back into the lower "Moderate" range by Wednesday.
Then next major storm system on the horizon looks to impact the region late Sunday through Monday. Models are suggesting that it may be strong enough to dig south into subtropical moisture. This could mean a pretty wet day on Monday. We've seen these models change as the event approaches, so for now it's safe to go with winds and a significant cool-down with a chance for rain on Monday.
Check back tomorrow for more. Until then, have a good day! -J.Paul
