Synopsis and Discussion

High pressure to the north will strengthen a bit over the next several days resulting in mostly sunny skies, relatively light winds, and above normal heat for this time of year. Afternoon desert temperatures could push 110°F in some of the hottest locations on Friday and Saturday (Phoenix will likely reach 107°F). In addition, our monsoon moisture will be shoved east over New Mexico through at least Saturday. Longer range models are not very optimistic in getting that moisture back anytime soon, either. We should see temperatures return to normal by Sunday and Monday as this high moves northeast over the Great Lakes region.

Air quality-wise, we had yet another great day on Tuesday with all pollutants in the "Good" range of the Air Quality Index (AQI). There were some thunderstorm outflow winds that pushed through the Valley around 9 p.m. last night, but evidently they weren't strong enough to kick up significant dust. This pattern should continue the next few days (minus t-storm outflow winds) with ozone levels possibly reaching the lower "Moderate" range in the eastern parts of the Phoenix forecast area.

Check back tomorrow for the latest. Until then, have a good day!
