Synopsis and Discussion
Mostly sunny skies and relatively light winds will continue across the deserts of Arizona the next few days with a slightly drier air mass moving in from the west. A trough of low pressure over the west coast has suppressed our Monsoon high to the southeast where it will stay through Wednesday. Despite the current surface moisture (Phoenix dew point around 60°F), thunderstorm activity will remain over the mountains of eastern and southern Arizona. There is an outside chance for blowing dust from distant storms which could affect local PM-10 concentrations. Otherwise, particulates should stay in the "Good" range.
Ozone has been in or near the "Good" range for a few days thanks to the great rain on Saturday. Increased sunshine should produce a bit more ozone over the forecast area, but westerly afternoon winds will keep the invisible plume moving to the east. The result will be peak 8-hr concentrations in the upper "Good" to the lower "Moderate" range through much of the week.
Check back tomorrow for any changes in the weather forecast and resulting air quality. Until then, have good day!
