Synopsis and Discussion

A stronger ridge of high pressure over the region will produce near
record heat Friday through Sunday. As it continues east, a weak
disturbance will sweep through Utah late Sunday through Monday. This
won't bring much rain or wind, but it will help drop afternoon desert
temperatures into the low 90s early next week. A weak easterly flow may
cause some slightly elevated ozone levels in the western part of the
forecast area this weekend, reaching no higher than the low "Moderate"
range. Increased dust along the Salt River of southern Phoenix will
keep PM-10 levels in the lower "Moderate" category as well. Otherwise,
it should be a nice weekend for outdoor activities.

Check back on Sunday for the latest air quality information and the
potential impact of Hurricane Rick on our weather next weekend. Until
then, have a good day!
