Synopsis and Discussion
A ridge of high pressure will strengthen and slowly migrate to the east over the next several days. As this ridge axis centers itself over Arizona Friday and Saturday, daytime maximum temperatures will approach record highs for this time of year. Meanwhile, winds will be mostly light through the forecast period. The light winds and stable conditions will result in fairly stagnant conditions during the early morning hours; however, high mixing heights in the afternoon will help keep 24-hr averaged PM10 concentrations in check. The light winds, abundant sunshine, and unseasonably warm temperatures will aid in the formation of ozone, but the lower sun angle this time of year will make it difficult for ozone concentrations to exceed the lower moderate category of the Air Quality Index (AQI). Overall, in terms of the AQI, marginally good air quality is expected for Friday and into the weekend.

Check back tomorrow for more air quality updates.
