Synopsis and Discussion
In the wake of Wednesday's trough and frontal passage, a very dry and much cooler air mass is over the local forecast area. With dew points in the digits and teens along with clear skies overnight, a rather strong inversion is possible by daybreak Friday. This will likely contribute to some relatively high hourly coarse (PM-10) and fine (PM-2.5) particle concentrations and a rather thick Valley Brown Cloud until the inversion breaks. Fortunately, another strong trough will approach from the north over the weekend, and cooling aloft and increasing winds will end the stagnation trend. In addition, increasing moisture from the south ahead of this system may even lead to some rain showers by Saturday afternoon. The proximity of the trough will result in a breezy day on Saturday with windy conditions possible on Sunday. At this time no significant blowing dust is expected to occur.
