Synopsis and Discussion
A fairly persistent weather pattern will continue through much of next week, keeping disturbances to the north of Arizona. High pressure will produce mostly sunny skies, relatively light winds and afternoon desert temperatures in the mid to upper 70s through Thanksgiving next week. No rain is in the forecast through the remainder of November. The current streak of days without measurable rainfall in Phoenix (greater than a Trace) is at 74 days. If we get through November without any wet stuff, that streak will reach 86 days.
Both PM-10 and PM-2.5 concentrations reached the mid "Moderate" range on Wednesday. Little change is expected weather or air quality-wise Thursday and Friday. PM-10 levels may back off a bit this weekend as work-week operations take a break. PM-2.5 levels, however, are expected to remain in the mid "Moderate" category through much of next week with residential fireplaces coming to life. No major wind systems are forecast to come through our region to help clear the pollution out over the next week, so we're at the mercy of the mixing heights, diurnal Valley breezes, and community awareness to keep these pollutants from reaching unhealthy levels.
Check back tomorrow for any changes and a look at your weekend's weather and air quality. Until then, have a good day! -J.Paul
