Synopsis and Discussion
A ridge of high pressure over the region will cause afternoon desert temperatures to warm to near 80°F by Friday under mostly sunny skies are relatively light winds. There will be another weak disturbance that will pass through the northern part of Arizona Saturday and Sunday, producing some local breezes as well as dropping temperatures back into the low to mid 70s. Unfortunately, no precipitation is expected with that system. We will have to rely on those breezes to clear out the accumulating pollution trapped by this week's morning surface inversions.
Both PM-10 and PM-2.5 concentrations only reached the lower "Moderate" range on Monday. Similar weather conditions the remainder of the week should yield similar results. Increased mixing heights should allow better vertical dispersion despite the lack of horizontal surface winds. Thus, we don't anticipate particulates increasing much over the next several days.
Check back tomorrow for the latest. Until then, have a good day! -J.Paul
