Synopsis and Discussion
Clouds and intermittent sprinkles will continue Thursday with the
occasional break for the sun to peak through. Any unimpeded sunshine
could help to enhance mountain and desert thunderstorm activity later in
the day and through the evening hours. Clouds on Wednesday kept Ozone
production well below its potential, with only the West Chandler monitor
reaching the lower "Moderate" category. The presence of the moisture in
the lower atmosphere had also kept particulate concentrations in the
"Good" range of the Air Quality Index (AQI). This will continue through
Friday where the Phoenix forecast area has its greatest chance of seeing
thunderstorms roll through. Things begin to change on by Saturday
afternoon as the high pressure system to the east and the low over Baja
move east, allowing a drier westerly flow to resume across Arizona.
Check back tomorrow for closer look at the weekend's weather and
associated air quality. Until then, have a good day! -J.Paul
