Synopsis and Discussion
*AN OZONE HIGH POLLUTION ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THURSDAY, MAY 7,
2009*
*AN OZONE HEALTH WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR FRIDAY, MAY 8, 2009*
Tonto National Monument was the recipient of Wednesday highest Ozone
concentrations, checking in just below the health standard at 90 AQI (72
parts per billion). As indicated by Alamo Lake's increase in
concentrations from 24 hours earlier, an import event is currently
underway. Early morning levels are ramping at a higher rate on
Thursday. East Valley locations again should have the highest
concentrations under this zonal (west to east) flow. This flow will
continue through Friday with a weak disturbance brushing the northern
part of the state on Saturday. Increased afternoon breezes Saturday
could mix the lower part of the atmosphere just enough to drop Ozone
concentrations a bit. Particulates could drop back into the "Good"
range once again on Saturday as well. We are issuing an Ozone Health
Watch for Friday and will reassess the situation again tomorrow morning.
Until then, have a good day! -J.Paul
