Synopsis and Discussion
Upper level low and trough parked over the western U.S. will bring another dry and gusty day to the local forecast area. A weather pattern change is in the offing, however. The aforementioned features are expected to weaken, move south, and eventually detach from the storm track later in the week. A stationary position off the Baja coast will enable southerly flow on the eastern flank of the low to tap into monsoon moisture over Sonora and propel it northward. At the same time, a building ridge will cause Valley afternoon temperatures to exceed the 100 degree F mark on Thursday. In the meantime, gusty afternoon gradient and upslope winds - and considerable cloud cover on Tuesday - will keep local ozone production and accumulation levels well below their June averages.
