Synopsis and Discussion
The next in the series of weak weather disturbances, embedded in the quasi-stationary large-scale upper level trough over the western U.S., will bring considerable cloud cover and even a chance for showers to the local forecast area today. This is highly unusual for the month of June in Phoenix, as is the fact that during nine of the past 10 days highest 8-hour ozone concentrations in the Valley have been in the good range of the Air Quality Index. On Wednesday significantly more sunshine is forecast to occur, along with modest afternoon breezes. Thus, a return to slightly higher ozone levels is expected - mainly over the northeast and east metro area. Another fetch of sub-tropical cloudiness is predicted to develop over the state by late Thursday in advance of another low-latitude impulse.
