Synopsis and Discussion
Windy weather is expected the next several days as the trough of low
pressure off the coast of California edges closer to our region. The
increased pressure gradient will produce maximum upper-level winds over
Arizona with surface gusts approaching 30-35 mph at times in the Phoenix
forecast area on Saturday. Because there is little to no moisture with
this system, pockets of blowing dust and sand are likely across the
deserts. This will lead to local Particulate concentrations climbing
comfortably into the "Moderate" range through Sunday. Conditions improve
a bit late Sunday through Monday while afternoon desert temperatures
struggle to reach the mid 90s. Ozone concentrations will continue to be
in the "Good" range through the weekend and possible into early next
week as there is no sign of any large upstream pools of ozone and
precursors that could impact our forecast area. Check back on Sunday for
the latest look at the coming work-week's weather and air quality. Until
then, have a great weekend! -J.Paul
