Health message for Thursday, June 4: Unusually Sensitive People should consider limiting prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors.

Synopsis and Discussion
Pressure gradients will tighten a bit more the next couple of days as the trough of low pressure off the coast of southern California slowly begins to move east. This will result in breezy to winds conditions on Thursday and Friday afternoons across Arizona. Occasional periods of blowing dust are possible in the open deserts during this period as well. Due to lack of moisture with this system, no desert rain is expected. The presence of the trough of low pressure (which will linger through next week) will cause afternoon desert temperatures to fall below normal (which is currently 100°F) Friday through the middle of next week.
Day 2 of June 2009 is in the books, and again all pollutants were in the "Good" range. PM-10 concentrations will likely climb well into the "Moderate" category by Friday, especially with gusts nearing 25-30 mph at times. Though we don't expect concentrations to approach the heath standard, it might still be a good idea for sensitive people to limit outdoor activities on Friday afternoon. Ozone levels should remain in the "Good" range the next several days. Check back tomorrow for the latest. Until then, have a good day! -J.Paul
