Synopsis and Discussion
The air looks great out there today! Thanks to a relatively weak inversion that will break when the surface temperatures reaches 50°F this morning (around 10:30am), and nearly unlimited mixing potential, it will be difficult to pick out that Valley Brown Cloud today. That won't be the case on Wednesday, however. The forecast calls for a stronger inversion tomorrow morning with mixing heights only around 2200 feet. Though particulates have been few an far between the past few days, the inversion and limited mixing on Wednesday will begin to trap emission, causing them to accumulate through the remainder of the week. With no rain in the forecast the next seven days (models have done a 180 from last week!) or so, clearing is not likely. Thus, we see PM-2.5 concentrations rebound rather quickly into the "Moderate" range by the end of the week. Though at a slower pace, PM-10 will also approach that category. Check back tomorrow for more. Until then, have a good day!
