Synopsis and Discussion
On and off showers will continue Friday afternoon through early Saturday. A large area of low pressure continues to spin off the coast of southern California, pumping moisture into the state. There will be a little clearing on Saturday and Sunday, with afternoon desert temperatures hovering around 70°F. Last night's model run took the significant rain scheduled for Monday out of the forecast. Instead, we are looking at a slightly less significant event starting early Tuesday and lasting through Thursday morning. Total accumulations in the Phoenix forecast area will be between a half to one inch, more in the mountainous areas north and east of the Valley.
All of this increased moisture has done a great job in clearing the air somewhat. On Thursday, all pollutants dropped well into the "Good" range. They'll likely remain there through the weekend. We could see PM-2.5 creep into the lower "Moderate" range by Monday, but drop once again with the next bout of rain. Check back on Sunday for the latest on next week's weather and air quality. Until then, have a great weekend!
