Synopsis and Discussion
Despite favorable conditions for ozone generations in the Phoenix forecast area, ozone continues to be lower than forecasted across the Valley, with all sites staying in the "Good" range again on Tuesday. Wednesday morning's concentrations are at or slightly lower than they were 24 and 48 hour earlier. Perhaps the El Nino patter has something to do with the lower that normal ozone we've had this season. It's always nice to think that it's due to reduced emissions that form the ozone. Either way, this season will be one to look back on for comparison sake.

The Monsoon season officially ends on September 30, but the weather pattern is still having a very difficult time establishing itself over Arizona. Surface dew points will be in the 40s through Saturday, increasing slightly Sunday through next Tuesday. It appears, however, that desert thunderstorm activity will continue to be absent through the next week or so. The good news there is that storm-generated blowing dust will not be an issue during this period either. We are keeping our eyes on a couple tropical waves coming off the coast of Central America. Some models are sending them to the northwest which could introduce some much needed rain to the region in the next 10 to 15 days.

Based on the favorable weather conditions, the forecast Ozone concentrations will be in the low to mid "Moderate" range through Friday. All other pollutants should remain in the "Good" category through Saturday with PM-10 steadily increasing each day towards lower "Moderate" levels.

Check back on Thursday for the latest. Until then, have a good day!
