Synopsis and Discussion
It's sounds like a broken record, but it's going to be another very windy day on Friday across the deserts of Arizona. A trough of low pressure currently just off the coast of southern California will strengthen a bit more before pushing on shore later Thursday afternoon. As it enters Arizona Friday, winds will turn out of the south and begin to increase. Sustained speed around 20 mph will be common across the Phoenix forecast area by about 1-3 pm with gusts near 30 mph at times. This means that areas of blowing dust are likely.
As mentioned in discussions earlier this week, this system will carry with it some good moisture. Dynamics associated with the cold front will be enough to produce showers across much of Arizona late Friday night. A few thunderstorms may roll through the Valley early Saturday, tapering off by the afternoon. Before all is said and done, total rainfall may be around a half an inch or more. On top of that, particulate levels should plummet well into the "Good" range on Saturday, possibly remaining there for several days if not weeks. Easter morning will be in the low to mid 50s under clear skies, warming around 80°F by the afternoon. Air quality will be great for outdoor activities. Check back tomorrow for the latest. Have a good day! -J.Paul
