Synopsis and Discussion
Fairly stiff easterly winds were the rule across the Phoenix forecast
area for much of the day on Thursday. This is because high pressure
continues to hang near the Four Corners region. It should eventually
get the memo that the Monsoon season is over in 5 days, weakening and
allowing more frontal systems to push through. In the mean time, the
general flow will shift out of the south over the weekend as another
trough of low pressure edges east towards the region. There will be
just enough moisture to produce some fair-weather cumulus (popcorn)
clouds on Sunday. Otherwise, desert temperatures will be in the mid to
upper 90s with a few areas reaching that triple digit mark.
Air quality-wise, things have been pretty good here in the Valley.
Particulates have in fact climbed into the "Moderate" range as it has
been while since our last rain soaker. Ozone, on the other hand, has
dropped into the "Good" range. I don't think we'll hear much noise from
ozone in the next five days, before Ozone season officially comes to a
close. Overall, it should be a beautiful weekend for outdoor
activities. Check back on Sunday for a glimpse at your coming workweek.
Have a great weekend! -J.Paul
