Synopsis and Discussion
Easterly flow has allowed a bit more moisture to filter into the region
from Mexico. Clear skies are dominating the forecast area... for now.
Clouds have been building with a few showers in western Pinal County,
spreading into southern Maricopa County. It's possible that a few of
these clouds and storms could drift north toward the Phoenix forecast by
the afternoon. Nothing severe is expected, but a few sprinkles are
possible. With a trough of low pressure looming to the west, the flow
will steadily shift out of the south the next few days, and eventually
out of the southwest by the weekend. Afternoon desert temperatures will
generally be in the upper 90s through the weekend.
This easterly flow hasn't resulted in the elevated ozone concentrations
that it could have produced just one month earlier. The sun angle is
lower so the rays are not as intense. We're also losing the amount of
time the sun bakes the precursors. Low to mid "Moderate" level ozone
will be the rule the next several days with particulates slowly climbing
towards the upper part of the "Good" range. Check back tomorrow for
more. Until then, have a good day! -J.Paul
