Synopsis and Discussion
Another active weather episode is expected locally this afternoon and
evening as high amounts of atmospheric moisture are acted upon by
daytime heating and dynamics associated with the approach of an upper
level low and trough in the mid-latitude storm track. As a result,
another low air pollution day is expected except for those areas where
brief periods of blowing dust are generated by thunderstorm outflow
boundaries. By late in the weekend, a strong Pacific ridge aloft
building eastward over the western U.S. will bring drier air over the
region along with weak gradients and relatively light winds. A return
of easterly winds aloft is possible by Sunday so a return to elevated to
high ozone levels is possible early next week. -Reith
