Synopsis and Discussion
*A PM-10 HEALTH WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 19, and
HAS BEEN EXTENDED THROUGH THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2008*
A little bit of a change may be coming by Sunday as an area of low
pressure is beginning to develop off the coast of Baja. Though it is
expected to be weak, it will help cool the desert temps into the 70s by
next week as well as bring some winds to help mix this accumulating
pollution. Until then, mostly light winds will prevail with afternoon
desert temps in the low to mid 80s.
We're starting to see overnight Particulate concentrations remain
high. As a result, the 24-hr our averages are creeping up towards the
health standards at a couple of sites. We have a PM-10 Health Watch in
effect for today, and we'll extend it another day as maximum ventilation
in Phoenix on Thursday is only expected to "Marginal". Some improvement
is possible on Friday, and most likely Sunday. Check back tomorrow for
more on the Particulate situation and the possible weekend low pressure
scenario. Until then, have a good day! -J.Paul
