Synopsis and Discussion
*A PM-10 HEALTH WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2008*
An unseasonably strong ridge of high pressure will continue to
dominate the weather across the region the rest of the week, leading to
afternoon desert temperatures 10-12 degrees above normal for this time
of year. No rain is expected through the weekend, and winds will be
mostly light across the Phoenix forecast area. Increasingly stagnant
conditions through Friday could lead to a decrease in visibility as
local pollution continues to accumulate.
PM-10 concentrations were in the mid "Moderate" range and a couple
sites on Monday. Lack of movement in lower atmosphere the next several
days could send those levels higher towards the health standard.
Somewhat strong morning inversions won't help, either. As a result, we
are issuing a PM-10 Health Watch for Wednesday with the possibility of
at least an extension on Thursday. Stay tuned for the latest. Have a
good day! -J.Paul
