Synopsis and Discussion
The mid and upper level clouds across much of Arizona indicate that
the trough of low pressure has begun to move into Arizona. Moisture is
limited, so if it rains anywhere, it will be confined to highest
elevations of northern Arizona. Upper level winds will whip through the
region, possibly creating some breezy conditions at the surface later
Tuesday afternoon. Otherwise, it's the cool air that will be the main
story with this system. Afternoon desert temperatures will likely not
even make it out of the 70s on Wednesday and Thursday. If you stood in
line to vote this Tuesday morning, you probably already noticed the
brisk air. High pressure will return by Friday afternoon, with another
quick-moving disturbance possible on Sunday morning.
Particulates were down across the forecast area ahead of this system
due to somewhat better mixing. If winds materialize later this evening,
they could increase once again. Otherwise, they should remain in the
lower part of the "Moderate" range the next few days. Check back
tomorrow for the latest. Happy Voting! -J.Paul
