Synopsis and Discussion

*AN OZONE HEALTH WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR, THURSDAY, MAY 29, 2008*

As high pressure continues to fight for control of the desert southwest, we continue to see a gradual warm up here in the Phoenix forecast area. Under mostly sunny skies and relatively light winds, temperatures will climb to around 99-104°F and remain there for the next week or so with no rain in the forecast. The current flow is nearly southerly. This is why the northern monitors registered the highest ozone concentrations on Tuesday. This flow will continue through at least Thursday, and with the baseline starting out higher each day, concentrations will likely approach the health standard. For this reason, we are issuing an Ozone Health Watch for Thursday, with the possibility of increasing it to a High Pollution Advisory for Friday. Particulates, on the other hand, remain in the "Good" range. Check back tomorrow for the latest. Have a good day! -J.Paul
