Synopsis and Discussion
The "same day" Ozone Health Watch that was issued on Thursday for
Thursday was validated as many sites soared into the upper "Moderate"
category with three monitors (two local and one in Flagstaff) exceeding
the 8-hr Ozone standard. The transport event is over as concentrations
in southern California have dropped off a bit and winds have died down
considerably. In fact, light winds will be the rule here in the Valley
of the Sun the next several days as high pressure strengthens.
Afternoon desert temperatures will be in the low to mid 90s through much
of next week with possibly anther mid-week wind event/ozone import
episode. Visibility has improved considerably as Particulate levels
have dropped off as well. They should remain in the upper "Good" to
lower "Moderate through the weekend. Overall, it should be a beautiful
weekend to get out and enjoy the weather here in Arizona. Check back on
Sunday for your Cinco de Mayo forecast and the rest of the week's
outlook. Have a great weekend! -J.Paul
